Compost brewer
How do you make a compost brewer that actually works?
For years people have been experimenting with compost brewing. The useful bacteria coming from the compost need lots of oxygen to multiply in the water. To extract the bacteria from the compost into the water mixing is necessary. To accomplish this process many systems consist of an aerator in a watertank. The problem with these systems is that the aerators cloq up by the compost in the water and filtering of the compost tea is necessary before one can spray it. To solve this problem the compost is placed in a holder or net. Then problem two occurs: the bacteria in the compost are not being extracted enough because the air from the aerator does not go through the compost. To overcome this, bigger airpumps are used and this leads to an inefficient system. There are some sophisticated looking machines on the market but in the end these are all still based on the old priciple of a water tank, aerationtube or disc and an airpump. There are machines that mix with a waterpump and nozzle but this kills a lot of the good nutriciants. The process has never been optimized untill..
The new Compost Tea solution by Oxydent!!
In cooperation with Global Horticare in the Netherlands, Oxydent has developed a revolutionary compost Xtractor. The Xtractor uses airlift and aeration technology through the special Oxydent fine bubble diffusers with zero pressure loss. By this we have overcome the disadvantages and shortcomings of systems that recirculate the tea through pressurized systems. The brewer extracts usefull bacteria and nutritional supplements from carefully selected compost. To make quality aerobic compost tea it is imperative to maximize the Biological Oxygen Demand of the compost inhabitants. This is done by intensive mixing and aerating that allowes the bacteria to multiply and leave the compost. The difference? Oxydent has designed a revolutionary compost extractor instead of an oldfashioned compost brewer. The extractor equipment contains airlift and aeration technology and a specially designed extraction chamber. By extracting the compost instead of brewing the compost we have cracked the impediments and short comings of first generation brewers. The brewer extracts useful bacteria and nutritional supplements much faster than conventional brewing systems. A quantity of 200 liter compost tea can be made easily within a day. As the compost dissolves into the water it allows you to use less compost. The system is made to produce quality by diversity instead of quantity of low quality homogeneous compost tea. Extracting and mixing the compost into the tea with airlift technology is proven to be the most effective.
So the process is optimized, but what about daily use?
Working with the Oxydent Compost Xtractor is easy. The machine is build for convenience and durability. The 2009 model had a weighted holder which insures a stable position of the machine in the water basin. The 2010 model is made floating. All components are made from quality plastics and inox steel and can easily be taken apart for cleaning. Due to the perfect extraction of the compost the compost tea can be used without filtering. The Compost Xtractor can be used as such in existing sytems by putting it in the watertank and connecting it to the airpump. Or you can purchase a complete set with airpump, hoses and waterbasin with holder and taps etc. Everything is designed as plug and play, so no tools or special skills are necessary. With the Oxydent Compost Xtractor making compost tea is easy, practical and efficient.
