What is aeration?

By aerating water, oxygen is added to the water. This helps the naturally present micro-organisms to convert organic pollution in the water. The flow caused by aeration mixes the water which prevents stratification (serveral layers with different temperatures) can be prevented. And it helps stripping natural gases such as methane from the water.
